For more than four decades, Computronix has been helping governments modernize the way they deliver services, combining Alberta-grown technology with a strong focus on relationships, reliability, and practical problem-solving.

Founded in Edmonton in 1979 by Herman Leusink, Computronix began with a simple philosophy: build excellent technology while creating an organization where employees and clients are treated with respect. From a single employee and a handful of customers, the company has grown to nearly 200 employees and serves government organizations in major centres across Canada and the United States.

Today, Computronix specializes in software for government permitting, licensing, inspections, enforcement, and regulatory processes. Its flagship POSSE platform allows governments to automate complex workflows, connect information across departments, and provide more efficient digital services to residents and businesses.

The company’s Alberta roots are closely tied to the development of that technology. In the early 1990s, the City of Edmonton needed a new system to modernize its planning and development processes. Computronix developed what would become the foundation of POSSE, creating a flexible platform capable of adapting as government processes and requirements evolved. The technology expanded across City operations and ultimately attracted the attention of government agencies throughout North America.

That local success has grown into a significant international footprint. Computronix now works with clients including the cities of Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, as well as provincial and state regulators across Canada and the United States. The company reports a 100 per cent project success rate, reflecting its emphasis on long-term partnerships and successful implementation.

Innovation continues to shape the company’s growth. Computronix is expanding its platform with artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, digital self-service portals, and tools that help governments simplify complex regulatory processes. These technologies are designed to reduce administrative workloads while making it easier for citizens and businesses to navigate government services.

At the centre of the company remains a philosophy summarized in three words: Respect. Trust. Serve. That approach has guided Computronix since its founding and continues to influence how it develops technology, supports employees, and works with clients.

From its beginnings in Edmonton to its growing presence across North America, Computronix is an example of Alberta innovation with lasting reach. By helping governments work more efficiently and deliver better digital services, the company continues to demonstrate how locally developed technology can make a meaningful impact far beyond the province.
