Key Influencer – Tricia Velthuizen – Executive Director, United Conservative Caucus

Tricia Velthuizen has served as Executive Director of the United Conservative Caucus since March 2025. In this role, she provides strategic leadership and operational direction to caucus operations, supporting private members in advancing legislative priorities and effective governance. With deep experience across communications, policy, and political operations, Velthuizen brings a steady, institutionally grounded approach to senior political leadership within Alberta’s Legislature.

Velthuizen’s career spans nearly a decade within the Government of Alberta and the Legislative Assembly, where she has held progressively senior roles at the centre of government. Most recently, she served as Director of Communications and Planning in the Office of the Premier, overseeing strategic communications, issue management, and long-range planning. She previously served as Senior Press Secretary in the Office of the Minister of Jobs, Economy and Innovation and as Press Secretary to the Minister of Service Alberta.

Her experience also includes senior political campaign work, most notably as Deputy Director of Scripting for the United Conservative Party’s successful 2023 general election campaign. Earlier in her career, Velthuizen held research and policy roles with the United Conservative Official Opposition and the Wildrose Official Opposition, developing a strong foundation in legislative research, policy analysis, and caucus support.

In addition to her government and political work, Velthuizen has volunteered with the Somali Canadian Women and Children Association and the Melanoma Network of Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theology from The King’s University and a Certificate in Crisis Communications from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
