On June 5, 2025, Liberal Member of Parliament Corey Hogan was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Tim Hodgson. Hogan represents Calgary Confederation and was the only Liberal member elected in the city back in April’s federal election. He will serve in this new role alongside Claude Guay, an MP from Quebec.

As parliamentary secretary, Hogan will assist Minister Hodgson with handling routine responsibilities in the House of Commons, participating in committee work, and serving as a liaison within the government caucus. He brings an important voice to this role as one of the few Liberal MPs representing the Prairie provinces. Hogan’s appointment comes at a pivotal time, as the federal government seeks to accelerate the approval and development of major resource projects across the country.

Before holding elected office, Hogan held senior roles in public communications. He served as Vice President of Communications and Community Engagement at the University of Calgary where he led a team responsible for building the university’s brand and reputation. He also led Alberta’s communications and public engagement department under both NDP and UCP premiers, reflecting his pragmatic experience. Additionally, Hogan was a co-host of the political podcast The Strategists and has been a regular commentator on CBC. He holds an MBA from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario and resides in the Calgary Confederation riding with his wife and three children.
