Key Influencer Profile - Nate Glubish - Minister of Service Alberta

Nate Glubish, MLA for Strathcona-Sherwood Park, was sworn into the role of Minister of Service Alberta on April 30, 2019, following the general election where he received his first electoral win. The Service Alberta Minister oversees the department responsible for 39 acts and 86 regulations - from vital statistics and registries, to land titles and condo property acts, to consumer protection and real estate.

 Born in Edmonton and raised in Saskatoon, Minister Glubish earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Saskatchewan where he majored in Finance.  Beginning in 2004, he went on to have a very successful career in investment facilitation and acquisition and merger management for tech companies in Alberta and later, Vancouver. Glubish has held several executive and director positions within these companies, helping to invest nearly $200 million in total.

 As Minister of Service Alberta, his focus has been on digitalizing services in Alberta, expanding the tech sector, and developing artificial intelligence (AI). In the legislature, he notably introduced Bill 28 which amended the Vital Statistics Act to prevent sex offenders from having the ability to legally change their name.

 Aside from his political and business ventures, Minister Glubish played keyboard for Edmonton based, rock/pop band; Rend from 2011-2014 where he toured across Canada playing over 200 shows including Edmonton’s Sonic Boom festival.
